My iphone 13 camera problem ? Why the reflections of the light like that when its night photos

It happens with EVERY manufacturer cell phone. Lens flare is natural and with practice can be avoided as I demonstrated above.

Bright lights reflecting off the sensor when you are taking photos of bright lights at night are called lens flare and VERY normal. Before you took the photo, you could plainly see the flares on your iPhone screen. To avoid or eliminate this angle the phone differently from the scene, which will reduce or eliminate these naturally occurring flares.

Here is an example of a photo with lens flare and one where angling the phone differently removed them.

Without changing my position, but by simply angling the phone differently relative to the scene, the flares were eliminated:

They are absolutely normal. They are the lights reflecting off the surface of the lens. The different color (greenish in hue) is the color of the anti-reflective coating on the lens. It helps reduce the reflections but it cant eliminate it altogether. This is a law of physics, not an artifact of the phone translating bright light as you say.

It is more predominant now because of the way the software enhances light in night shots. This phenomenon happens on high end DSLRs as well, not just iPhones.

Simply, completely incorrect. Lens Flare has been reported with just about every single iPhone model as far back at least as iPhone 6. You've just not taken many photos at night if you never had an iPhone like this, which has Night Mode capabilities. It is NOT because of an iOS update. It is NOT new and no matter how much money you spend on a camera, Lens Flare is real and either unavoidable or can be corrected by re-angling the camera relative to the scene.

I may have found the cause. It seems there may be a hair thin crack in the screen protective glass near the selfie lense. Fingers crossed that you’re right and replacing the cover may resolve this. 🤞🏻

Then why didnt it happen when the phone was new? Why did it start now??

don't happen in my samsung flip3, but was happening my iPhone XR and now in 13 Pro Max too
