I’m used to being able to use the Tile to locate my iPhone by simply pressing the Tile and the iPhone chimes so I can find it. The Airtag does not seem to have that feature which make the Tile better than the Airtag.

You can use any computer with a web browser to access Find My, that's how. You can also use an iPad, or another iPhone to do so. The AirTags have their uses. Whether or not, you agree, is totally up to you. No one is forcing you to buy one.
You are correct. I don’t have to get an Airtag. I did get one however after having used the Tile for the past 2 years just to try it and was both surprised and disappointed that Apple did not think of adding the ability for the Airtag to locate the iPhone like the Tile does. You need access to an iPad or computer to locate the iPhone but what if you don’t have either? My point is that it’s an Apple fail. I often forget where I left my iPhone and the Tile easily helps me find it by triggering a sound when I press it. Don’t have to find an iPad or computer. Sadly I don’t think I can return the Airtag that I got.
Why don't you just use the Find My app or the Find My website to locate your iPhone, instead of using either an AirTag or a Tile?
How can you use Find My app if you don’t have your iPhone and you’re out and about trying to find it? The Airtag is useless. The Tile is better.
