Suddenly I don't get a thumbnail when I take a screenshot, how do I get this feature back.

I use Command Shift 4 to take a small screenshot, then a thumbnail appears in the lower right corner of the screen and I can right click that for a menu or drag it to another window. Suddenly this feature is gone and it opens a window and wants me to save the image as a file.

I don't want to save it as a file, how to I get the thumbnail feature back?

For guidance please see:

Thumbnails can be enabled or disabled by using the shortcut Command-Shift-5 to open the Screenshot app.

Then select Options on the pallet and click "Show Floating Thumbnail".
