Hello Pennoak,

Let's use the set of steps below to make sure this isn't due to a complication with one of your microphones:

1. Remove any screen protectors, films, or cases from your iPhone.
2. Clear any debris from the openings of your iPhone.

1. Open the Voice Memos app.
2. Tap the Record button , speak at the bottom of your phone, then stop the recording.
3. When you play back the memo, you should hear your voice clearly.

1. Open the Camera app.
2. Record a video while speaking at the top of your iPhone.
3. Tap the camera chooser  to switch to the other camera. Then record another video while speaking at the top of your iPhone.
4. When you play back the videos, you should hear your voice clearly.

You can also find those steps in this resource: If the microphones on your iPhone aren't working - Apple Support

If you are able to hear your voice clearly when following those steps, does this happen with multiple apps or only certain ones?

Also, does this occur every time you use Dictation, or does this only happen intermittently?

Let us know, and we'll keep moving forward from there.

It was not the fault of the phone. It was a hand strap that was actually covering the microphone that I purchased online. Worthless! But what I find now with the last update on my iMac when I do dictation and want to make a correction and I it is locked.. Many times when I go to make the correction a duplicate what my previous sentence was and then I have to erase it. Something screwed up with the update. That's more important!

There is a Dictation problem on the iMac since the last update. When you see there's a mistake during the Dictation and go to correct it you have to stop the dictation. Many times I find that when I go to stop it a duplicate the sentence a duplicate the sentence just as it did here. I want to make a change from duplicate as a plural to duplicates and it duplicated my last sentence. I think you need another service update! Major shareholder
