timemachine not working with sonoma

Message: Backup not completed. Some of the files on your Mac cannot be backed up until Cloud files syncing has completed.

However, it is now 12 days since Sonoma was installed and the amount of data in the cloud is very small, no syncing activity is apparent.

Hi,

The problem now appears to have been solved. I decided to run Diskwarrior on the back up disk and a number of hard link aliases were found to be invalid, as well as some other issues. Following the Diskwarrior repair, TimeMachine backups have restarted. So the error message I was getting about incomplete syncing with cloud files seems to have been a MacGuffin!

Thank you for your help.

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities ronfrompeebles,

Syncing may occur at different intervals, depending on when there is new data to be synced. How long have you been trying to complete your backup? Has this been occurring since the upgrade to Sonoma completed?

If you use the Activity Monitor to review current network activity on your Mac, is there anything that appears to be related to iCloud showing?

Hi, thanks for your message.

The problem started after upgrading my iMac (M1) to Sonoma 14 days ago, my Time Machine backs ups have worked for many years without a problem and I now have less stored on the cloud than I did previously. There has been plenty of time for cloud files to sync (iCloud, Dropbox and Google Drive). Activity monitor doesn't indicate any unusual network activity.

I have tried booting in Safe Mode but the problem still exists.
