How to reset the Auto-Brightness on MacBooks?

After changing the auto-brightness using the physical buttons it feels the auto-brightness does not quite work the same anymore. On iPhones, going to Accessibility> Display and Text it is possible to reset the brightness behaviour. On Mac, turning the auto-brightness slider on and off does not do anything. Is there a command or something I can use to do the same?
