Garbled fonts on Safari webpages in Sonoma

Since upgrading to Sonoma some web pages on Safari are displaying garbled text.

It looks like a font-loading problem...?

This is a known issue with FontBook - the symptoms are varied (for me, it's only text with <H*> tags that are garbled ) but the fix is the same: reset your FontBook. See directions from Apple here:

Restore fonts that came with your Mac using Font Book - Apple Support (CA)

This will correct the problem but it may or may not be permanent. I restarted my MacBook in safe mode first, and have not had to reset again, but I do see reports of people who have to do it every few days, or whenever they shut down and restart. YMMV.
