Messenger Problem

My messenger is slow in my new Mac M2 Pro Sonama 14. Video msg is not loading and I think there is problem in input sound while audio or video call. Does anybody help mw out with this problem?

This is the video msg sent to me and shows loading only.

Are you having a problem with all messages or just this one message?


Try quitting the Messages app and restarting your Mac:

Quit apps on Mac

Shut down or restart your Mac


That can get apps that aren't behaving working right. See more steps here:

Thanks for trying those steps. Since that didn't resolve the issue, next will be to narrow down what's causing it a bit. First will be to boot your Mac to safe mode to see if the same issue occurs. This narrows down the issue if it's OS related.


Start up your Mac in safe mode


Another step to narrow down the issue is to create a test user profile, log in to it, then test the Messages app. This will narrow down the issue to your user profile or not.


Change Users & Groups settings on Mac


Reply back with what you discover.

We wanted to clarify some information regarding to the section option provided in the previous response. One way to isolate the issue would be to test it in a brand new user account. This can tell us if the issue is limited to some setting or startup item on your primary user account, or if it's happening across your whole system. Knowing that can help you troubleshoot the issue more specifically.

Once you create a new account, simply test the issue while logged in to that account and see if it continues to occur.

I am also experiencing the same issue. it started about one to two weeks ago. all videos just show loading in my messenger app. i've tried re-installing the app to no avail. This problem happens only in the messenger app. The videos work perfectly if i use facebook on chrome or safari, or even in my phone's messenger app. Links that i have to open in chrome work fine, but any and all videos do not work and only show a grey loading screen like what Hemraj 94 has posted.


I am using an Air M1 2020 with MacOS Monterey v12.1

Anyone resolve this. I've been having this problem for a couple of months and have not found a solution.

I no longer use messenger on OSX... i just open the facebook app in my browser now... but i don't like that for other reasons.

I'm pretty disappointed with facebook/meta these days. They are getting very lame and ever since they have been caught kneeling to the government censors I'm almost completely done with them.

Not sure if they can do much right these day.
