Predictive text is off - but it’s running

Ever since I updated my phone to iOS 17 the predictive text is running but it’s turned off within the keyboard settings. At least I assume it’s predictive text. I don’t have any words typed in my text field but it’s suggesting words based on my discussion within the text it seems.

Predictive text function gone in iPad after latest iOS update Hello, In the last day or two, since updating to the latest iOS upgrade, I have lost my Predictive text function! I have made sure my PT toggle is ON in Settings, and have restarted my iPad and iPhone several times, with no resulting correction. Now what? Predictive Text Stopped Learning After iOS16 Hi there. Ever since updating to iOS 16 (on both my iPhone 11 Pro Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max) my predictive text does not work as it used to. It doesn't seem to be learning from me as I type. For example, the only words suggested to me each time I begin typing are "I", "The" and "I'm" even though I don't use these often to start typing. Before, at least "Hey" would be one of the options as I use this frequently. But now, it seems no matter how many times I type "Hey" to start typing... it never defaults as one of the first words to choose from. I have turned predictive text on/off many times. I have reset the keyboard settings many times. I have swapped languages. I have just installed iOS16.1. But no matter what I do, the predictive text does not seem to be learning from me anymore. It's been several weeks now. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Literally just came here to post this. I don’t think this ever happened with the previous iOS. I’ve had predictive text turned off for 10 years! It’s quite annoying.
