iPhone 15 Pro Live Photo selection changes brightness

After taking several outdoor Live photos of people with my new phone (15 Pro), the still image automatically selected is bright and beautiful. However, if I choose to edit the photo and select any other frame in the Live Photo, the brightness of the photo dims substantially. Even using the auto enhance option does not brighten the newly selected image like the original. It’s never done that with earlier phones. Can’t figure out what’s different or what setting I have that I’m not aware of.

Hi.

You can try to disable the HDR configuration in the photo adjustment.

Happens also on my humble iPhone 12 mini. I suspect this may be a software effect, perhaps something introduced recently.

Good example is photo of full moon rising over the mountains before sunset, taken as Live Photo. Viewed on iPhone from library, moon pops out very bright. However all of the individual photos from the live series show a much dimmer moon, and same with anything I send or post on social media.

Hello Mdealio,

Let's use the steps below to set the desired photo a the key photo to see if that behavior still persists:

1. Open the Live Photo and tap Edit.
2. Tap the Live Photos button .
3. Move the slider to change the frame.
4. Release your finger, then tap Make Key Photo.
5. Tap Done

You can also find those steps in this resource: Take and edit Live Photos - Apple Support

Should that behavior still persist, you'll want to reach out to Apple Support: Apple Support They'll be in the best position to look into this further.

Take care.
