iPhone activation lock

I recently got an iPhone from a friend and after getting the screen fixed it says activation lock, he told me that he’s not gonna give me the info so I tried using the password and got locked out of the password screen but just now his mom gave me the password to the phone but they don’t know the Apple ID or anything so how can I use the password again to authenticate it?

If they don't know the Apple ID, you can't use the phone. And Apple won't help you either.

If they have forgotten the Apple ID, give them this link --> https://iforgot.apple.com/

And this provides more information --> If you forgot your Apple ID - Apple Support

If they can't or won't do what is required, it's a lost cause and you NEVER use the phone.

Each Apple device is linked/associated with an Apple ID of the person who did the setup.

Activation Lock prevents anyone who is not the owner from using this iPhone.

To unlock the Phone, you need the Apple ID and password of the previous owner, that were used during set up.

So you have to contact the previous owner.

The previous owner has to read -> this Apple article: What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch -> What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Then the previous owner has to remove the iPhone from his account, see this Apple article:

Check your Apple ID device list to see where you're signed in

Check your Apple ID device list to find where you're signed in - Apple Support

Then you can sign in with your own Apple ID.

See the following Apple articles:

Activation Lock for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

How to remove Activation Lock -> How to remove Activation Lock – Apple Support (UK)

Read this before you buy a 2nd hand iPhone.

You can also contact Apple support for help, -> Get Support (apple.com)

You have to show proof of ownership of your product, provide all documentation showing your purchase of the device.

If you do not have additional proof of ownership, contact the reseller. They may be able to provide the original purchase document.

Once Apple receive your proof of ownership, Apple will further review your request and provide an update.

he told me that he’s not gonna give me the info

Perhaps you have got a stolen iPhone.

If you can't get in touch with the previous owner, you can't use the iPhone, recycle the iPhone.

He shouldn't give you his Apple ID password. What he should have done was to prepare it as described in this article.

What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

This would have allowed you to set it up as your own without knowing his password.

If you don't have the proper credentials to unlock the phone, you don't bypass Activation Lock.

Activation Lock is an anti-theft mechanism to make stolen phones useless to thieves. Apple will only help you to bypass it in very specific circumstances – e.g., if you are the original owner and have proof of purchase which is satisfactory to them. They're not going to remove the Activation Lock. Without help from your friend, you're not going to remove it, either.
