No alerts from Google Calendar

I have an IPhone 12 IOS 16.6.1. I have Google Mail as my default. I receive notifications of new emails, however I receive no notifications of calendar events. I've tried different configurations on my iPhone without success. Is it simply not possible to get my calendar event notifications from Google on my iPhone or is there a particular configuration in settings? Any help would be appreciated.

Hello DarylGS,

Let's use the steps below to update your iPhone to the latest iOS 16.7 as it contains important bug fixes:

1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.
5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do.

You can also find those steps in this resource: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

If you have already updated, let's restart: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support

1. Press and hold either volume button and the side button until the power-off slider appears.
The volume button is located on the left side of the device, and the side button is located on the right
2. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.
3. To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button (on the right side of your iPhone) until you see the Apple logo.

Updating and restarting can help to further isolate a potential software conflict.

Should that still persist, do you have any other calendar accounts set up? If so, are they exhibiting the same behavior?

Also, are you facing notification difficulties with any other apps or features?

Let us know, and we'll keep moving forward from there.

Daryl S.,

Are you sure it's not just recognizing your face and turning the sound down or off? this is called Attention Awareness. Turn Attention Aware features on or off on your iPhone or iPad Pro - Apple Support

Turn that off and restart your phone, OR turn the phone upside-down on the table. Lock it also. Let it sit and send a notification from some other device. See if it makes the sound when you aren't looking at it.

If it still doesn't work, if it's only with Google, please contact them, they might have to push an update to get it working again.

If it's across all apps, please contact Apple Support: https://getsupport.apple.com

Thanks.

The problem is resolved. Not sure what happened, but I heard an alert I thought was an email but it was from my calendar. Email and calendar evidently are using the same alert sound. My guess is the Apple IOS update got it up-and-running. However THERE WAS a Google update as well that I ran.

Thanks to all for the help.
