iPhone alarm volume too low

Most alerts and alarms are barely audible. Many times I don’t hear the phone ring at all. And this is with my hearing aids connected and right in my ear. Focus is off so all calls should come through. Don’t tell me to go to sounds and haptics because that doesn’t help. If I turn it up higher, when some alerts DO come through, I’m blasted out of my chair. I don’t need more hearing loss. I have the decibel threshold at 80 max, which is plenty loud.

Hi Ruthannie,

Without further details regarding the specific situation, you could be describing the expected behavior of the Attention Aware feature, as outlined in Turn Attention Aware features on or off on your iPhone or iPad Pro:

"With Attention Aware features, iPhone can check whether you’re paying attention to your device and automatically take action. For example,

  • When you’re looking at your device, your display will not dim until you stop looking at your device.
  • If you're looking at your device, it will lower the volume sound of your alerts.

If you don’t want to use these features, open the Settings app, tap Face ID & Passcode, then turn off Attention Aware Features."(emphasis added)

Barring that, changing the notification sound for the alarms or individual apps may improve your ability to hear those alerts.

Regards.

This is a bug in iOS, and it is so basic yall should be embarrassed. There is a software flow that starts the phone alarm super loud, and immediately silences it to nearly muted, but I’m not looking at the phone, it’s on the charger pointed out into my dark room. My face is nowhere near the camera. This is a bug in a critical user flow that apple has to acknowledge & fix. I have already severely overslept when people depend on me. Surely apple can handle making their alarms be loud enough to alarm people. Haptics and sounds are turned all the way up. Attention Aware Features cannot be turned off for some reason the toggle is in the on position, and it is disabled. I sleep in a room with red lights turned on, could that be breaking your awareness feature??

Please don’t disregard this issue.
