Can't scroll back to previous message while texting after iOS 17 update

I can sometimes get back to the previous message if I gently just quickly pull down sometimes it'll go to the previous message and sometimes it won't! It's just super annoying!!!!! I thought I had a workaround where I would select all, cut the message and then be able to see the previous message and then re-paste my message after. But that doesn't always work either, if my messages is too long it won't select the whole entire text only part of it and if I try to drag the portion I'm trying to cut to include more it disappears and I have to select again! Very slowly it adds it bit by bit and one little wrong move it disappears!! so so frustrating! Why does Apple have to keep mucking around with things? This doesn't happen in email? I have zero editing problems there. maybe I'll forget texting and just email people! Other option is to type the text all in an email and then cut and paste it to text. We shouldn't have to be doing these workarounds it should just work!

I don't know how to add to my previous message so I'll just write another one. The other issue I am having is I can't scroll back to the top of my text to edit it, every time I try to click on a word it'll automatically scroll back down to the bottom of my message. I just can't seem to get back up to the top if it's a long message to edit! Plus my phone is acting slow and stupid as well! This update is frustrating! Anyone else? Is there any help for this?

Yes I have that problem as well but what I have learned is if I scroll to the point of the message I want to edit, if I tap the word I want to edit it puts the cursor there even though it send me back down to the bottom of my message . So then I just backspace and it'll take me back up to the word I was trying to edit! What a whole load of you know what to just edit my text! Makes me feel like smashing my phone this is so frustrating!
