Chrome homepage hijacked on macbook pro after update to sonoma

A page of "Namecheap" starts instead of the google.com. This affects only my Mac, there is no problem with iOS or Windows PC. I have two accounts with Chrome, both are affected on Mac only. I tried Malwarebytes and other antivirus without results, Any hint?

Hi!

Here to help!

"Namecheap" is an ICANN-accredited domain name registrar; that means it hosts a variety of websites, including, but not limited to search-sites, ads-sites, info-news-sites, hobby, music, etc.

Malwarebytes will not flag it, because it is not Malware/Adware.

Although out of scope (Google Chromium, not Apple), I will get you going:

  • on your Mac, open Chrome;
  • At the top right, click MORE : settings;
  • Under "Appearance" turn on Show Home Button;
  • Below "Show Home Button," choose to use the New Tab Page or a custom page.

If this fails, you could consider resetting the browser altogether:

(Data loss may occur!!)

  • On your computer, open Chrome;
  • At the top right, click MORE > settings;
  • Click reset settings restore settings to their original defaults > reset settings;

Please keep in mind, that in the future, these questions should be adressed here:

https://support.google.com

Hope this helps!

Kind regards

RRD
