Are Photos and Music stored in iCloud Backup?

When I tried turning iCloud Photos on I got a message saying:

Syncing photos and videos via Finder is not supported when iCloud Photos is turned on.

794 photos and videos will be removed.

what does this mean?

Exactly what it says.

If you have Photos and Videos you synced from a computer, those cannot be uploaded to iCloud, and are removed from the iPhone when you turn on iCloud Photos.

Make sure you have a backup of those photos on the computer you synced them from.

Also, turning on iCloud Photos, stops the inclusion of the photos in the general iPhone backup on iCloud, since they are being synced, and it would just be doubling up on the space used for them.

You also cannot sync photos from a computer and use iCloud Photo Library at the same time. Its one or the other.

Turning on iCloud Photo Library on the source computer, will upload the photos to iCloud and make them available on all other devices that have the option turned on and are using the same Apple ID for iCloud as the computer.

Music has nothing to do with this, and is not backed up at all. If you subscribe to the Apple Music service, Music on a computer can be matched or uploaded to the iCloud Music Library and will be available on all devices.
