I was shopping and looking at the website to buy a new iPad Pro and I wanted to trade in the iPad I have right now. I have an iPad 10th generation and it is not up to trade in. Why ?

Apple's trade-in programme does not accept current-models. As such, until your iPad is superseded, trade-in won't be an option. When trade-in does become an option, the potential value will be significantly less than you paid.
As such, selling your unwanted iPad privately will likely be the only way to recover a appreciable proportion of the purchase cost.
Apple doesn't take trade-ins for current models.
