I downloaded Vimeo's automatic captions of a dailies reel, and tried to put them in a Final Cut Pro X project, but when I go file->import->captions, the file is greyed out.
What do I do here?

Does Vimeo export other file types? The FCP docs say it can import .scc, .itt and .srt caption files. Import captions into Final Cut Pro for Mac - Apple Support A quick search showed free online vtt to srt convertors.

Hey thanks - I did find an online converter, and SRT worked fine.
Some articles I googled said VTT was possible and I guess I never checked the official docs. Thanks for the link.
Great! I'm glad it worked. There are others here much more knowledgable about using captions so there might be other solutions that are easier.
