Sonoma iCloud Desktop Folder is Empty

Following my upgrade to OS Sonoma my Desktop Folder in iCloud appears to have no files. When I do a Get Info it says that it has 32 GB of data but I cannot see any files in Finder. Of course the Desktop Folder on my Mac also shows empty since it's a mirror of what the iCloud has. My Documents Folder is acting normally through iCloud.

Could you expand on what you did to get the files to display on the desktop? My files are also in the iCloud drive /desktop folder, how did you get yours to display on the desktop? Seems like the local desktop and iCloud desktop folders get misaligned somewhere but haven't figured out how to straighten them out yet.
