Voice control with iOS 17 on iPad

Voice control with iOS 17 on my iPad Pro seems to be broken after I upgraded this morning.

So far I have only found a problem in the mail app. I'm using Apple's native mail application. It is updated to the latest version.

Are use the continuous number overlay feature and the minute you select the number to get into the main body of the email and you start to dictate the problem arises.

You can dictate the first sentence. Nothing shows on screen till you stop talking which is unusual behaviour because normally the word start to appear as you speak them. But in the mail app this doesn't happen. When you start speaking the sentence will appear but then voice control seems to freeze for dictation and nothing else you say will appear on screen. You have to give the command say numbers or open mail again to reactivate voice control dictation mode you can then say another line and it will again freeze.

I rely 100% on voice control so this is very frustrating. Is there a way to downgrade back to iOS 16?

I upgraded to OS 17 a couple of weeks ago and then had an update maybe four days ago. Things in general were briefly and occasionally slower after both of those but I was still able to use Voice Control. This morning I tried to use my voice to compose an email on my phone and had to give up because the lag was so long. I switched over to my iPad and had the same problem and it's still going on. To finish writing my email this morning I used the Quick Notes app that comes up in the right hand corner of my iPad and then copied and pasted the text into the email program. Very frustrating.
