i need help getting my phone out of a bootloop

my phone has been stuck in a boot loop for months now and i cant seem to get it out of it as of last night i was able to turn it on and get into the phone itself but i tried to update the phone and then it got stuck back into the bootloop, i havent tried plugging it into a computer to update it yet because i do not have a USB-C to lightning cord and only have the iphone charging cord, am i able to update my phone using one of my school provided chromebooks so i do not need to purchase a new cord?
