Safari not compatible with macOS Monterey 12.7

I just updated my macOS to Monterey 12.7. This update included Safari.

Now Safari says that it is not compatible with this OS.

How do I restore the older version of Safari.

Had a chat with Apple Support (very helpful).

I had to reinstall the OS. Start computer holding down command + r, then choose reinstall OS.

This reinstalled Monterey 12.7 but did not update Safari.

That night Safari 17.0 was installed automatically and now everything is working just fine.

Hey there billfromgrimsby,

We understand you're seeing a message indicating that Safari isn't compatible with macOS Monterey. We'd be happy to provide information about this.

Make sure that the message that is appearing isn't indicating that the site you're visiting isn't compatible with Safari. Safari comes pre-packaged with macOS, so it will always include a compatible version.

We hope this helps. Kind regards.
