I have tried many tricks (including fiddling with .DS_Store files) with not much long-term success. So I have given up with that. But tell me if there is a robust way to do that.
I miss the old System 4-9 Finder which remembered window sizes and locations (but "rebuilding the Desktop" deleted Get Info comments unless 3rd party add-ons were used).
