Question about making calls on the Series 9 w/cellular

If I get a Series 9 with cellular, if i leave my iphone at home and then make a call from the apple watch, does the call come from my iphone number? or if someone calls me on my iphone number does that call come to my watch?

In other words, is the cellular account a "new line", or an add-on to my existing phone number?

I migrated my cellular plan but can only call or receive calls from the apple watch number. Apple Watch with Cellular connection I have a silly question, but I'm a first time apple watch user. When I added a cellular plan to my watch, it got a 'new' cell phone number (not the same one as my cell phone). If I leave my cell phone at home and go away and someone rings my cell phone, will that call also ring on my watch over the cellular network? Or do I need to set up call forwarding on the phone for that to work? Similarly, if I make calls from my watch, when my phone is not around, will people see my usual number or the watch number? Apple Watch cellular function Hi. I have an Apple Watch series 8 with cellular. I activated it with Verizon with number share. When my phone is off, all the cellular functions work fine except for making a call on my watch. When I call someone from my contacts on my watch, it shows as a different phone number on the phone receiving the call. If you call the Watch back on that phone number it will show the contact name I put for that person. Anyone had this same issue?

Your Apple Watch shares your iPhone's number.

Most cellular companies have an accounting number for tracking and billing the Apple Watch, but it is not used for calling Apple Watch.
