Stuck in loading options mode

Stuck in loading options mode MacBook Pro 14” holding Start up button. However when it passes Apple Logo screen it suggests keep holding in order to load options screen. This does not load . I was performing an update at Apple request to update MacOS Ventura and the latest Safari update. My MacBook was also due to load MacOS Sonoma, later in the evening nothing has happened and I am left with a complete black screen. Any suggestions that will work, before I get in touch with Apple? the power cable light suggests it has enough power in the battery to start up, but to no avail.

My MacBook is already shutdown, there are no lights on. I’m using a MacBook Pro Apple silicon, but to no avail. Just like this post suggests: If your Mac starts up to a blank screen – Apple Support (UK)

My screen shows that it is trying to show those options, but they do not load.

Thanks for trying my friend but unfortunately I will have to contact Apple support. If and how they are able to help and do I will post my findings for the community here, who knows it may help someone else in the future.

Tbh, and thanks for getting back to me. I found your reply regarding third party software. I use Tailscale as a VPN though yesterday, the certificate did expire (thanks iPhone for verifying) I also use rekordbox which of late was not really responding since the last update. Will keep you posted when I found out the results, going to use my other mac to guide along the way. That being firmly in the Monterey OS.

Start up your computer in macOS Recovery

  1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > Shut Down.
  2. Wait for your Mac to shut down completely. A Mac is completely shut down when the screen is black and any lights (including in the Touch Bar and keyboard) are off.
  3. ADDED >> Do not  attempt a Restart to access this feature. The computer Must be Shutdown and pause for about 10 seconds before moving forwards
  4. Press and hold the power button on your Mac until the system volume and the Options button appear.
  5. Click the Options button, then click Continue.
  6. If asked, select a volume to recover, then click Next.
  7. Select an administrator account, then click Next.
  8. Enter the password for the administrator account, then click Continue.
  9. When the Recovery app appears in the menu bar, you can choose any of the available options in the window or the menu bar.
