side button does not start control center apple watch

After recent apple watch updates, control center is not available via side button, as per new instructions. I have rebooted watch a couple of times. Did not help. Side button returns traditional functions Emergency ID, SOS, and power slide off.

Apple Watch Series 4, watchOS 10

It is a momentary press of the oval side button.

A long press brings up the power off, SOS, and emergency ID.

I have done the latest update on my Series 5 Apple watch. Have restarted watch but still no control center!!!

Also my BPM is not showing on my watch face even though it is in the faces. Help
