MagSafe animation on iPhone 15 Pro

I recently set up my new iPhone 15 Pro. When attaching the MagSafe wallet or charger the animation does not appear on the screen to indicate a connection. I do hear the connection sound effect but the animation does not appear. If the phone display is in sleep mode, the animation does appears but when it is awake, it does not. Is this a normal function for iPhone 15 Pro with iOS 17.0.2?
