When I installed ios 17, sign in codes were being deleted shortly after use in Message. However more recently it is not deleting the codes any more. I have reset network settings, switched off phone turned back on. In settings passwords it is set up to 'clean up automatically' (toggle off and on). Is any anyone experiencing this?

"Automatically delete one-time verification codes
One-time verification codes are filled in automatically, so you don’t need to leave the app or website you’re signing into. You can choose to automatically delete the verification codes after entering them with Autofill, or keep them.

not working for me on MacOS 14.3.1 and IOS 17.3.1
Will select "clean up automatically", and it works for a while. Then I notice verification code messages stacking up in email and messages. I go check, and it's turned off on either the phone or Mac.

it is also not working for me in IOS 17.3.1. I toggle it to on and it seems to toggle back to off on its own at some later time.
Oddly mine also doesn't says "clean up automatically " it says "delete after use" - doesn't do that either. I have a lot of odd bugs on ios17.4.1
Codes for logins are not being deleted any more in Message. ios 17
