No Display settings for Mac OS Monterey

I am trying to extend my screen and I can only mirror it. In my display settings I only have the option to change resolution, brightness and color profile. I’ve watched all the how to videos and I am getting no where. I also tried restarting, unplugging the display, and holding down the option key with no luck.

I am connecting a dell monitor with a USB-HDMI adapter. I have a MacBook Air from 2015 with OS Monterey version 12.7 that is completely up to date.
