I want to upgrade from iPhone 7 Plus to iPhone 13 or 12 and I have an apple watch series 2 can I pair it with these iPhones or should I upgrade the watch too?

Your new iPhone should accept pairing with the older Apple Watch. The constraint is that newer Apple Watches need their paired iPhone to be running the latest software (iOS 17) and your new iPhone would meet that requirement. iOS 17 will be compatible with older Apple Watch software.

Your Apple Watch Series 2 is no longer supported for software updates and it is likely the battery will be showing reduced performance and capacity. Whether you want to keep it working for sentimental reasons, or upgrade now is entirely your decision.
