how to disable loading of remote content and images on iCloud Mail in browser

I used to be able to read emails with an OPTION of loading remote content or images.

Now they seem to be pre-loaded. This makes it awful if I accidentally click on some

spam -- BOOM! Remote content is right there! This is NEW. How do I go back to

the old way??? Thanks.

Hi ArtsySue,

We'd love to help resolve the issue you're having. You mentioned this is happening with Mail in iCloud in a browser, and we can help by providing steps to stop this from happening. Just see the information below.

  1. "In Mail on iCloud.com, tap the Settings button at the top of the Mailboxes list, then choose Settings.
  2. Tap Privacy & Security, then deselect Block All Remote Content.
  3. When Block All Remote Content is selected, you need to tap “Load remote content” at the top of an email to view the images."

Reference: Read email in Mail on iCloud.com

Cheers!

I stand corrected!! I had the wrong window. I was in "INBOXES" instead of "MAILBOXES."

However, when I found the gear, and navigated to Privacy & Security, "Block all remote contact"

was greyed out. What was checked was Protect Mail Activity, which seems to hide the IP address

and load the remote content "in the background." Which of these options is best?

Thank you, Michelle, your answer would have been great had I been in the right window. ;-)

And thank you, JJRASC.

Yeah, see that little "gear" image is no longer at the top of the page. However, when I click on my own avatar/account, one option is "Settings" (including the little gear icon). Cool. HOWEVER.....there's absolutely no option about Privacy & Security or anything about remote content.

That's why I asked the question -- because that used to be available, but there's a "new look," and the Settings gear is buried, and there's no Privacy & Security option. Where else can I look?

Thank you for your effort, Michelle!
