IOS 17.0.2 update during setup slow
Is it normal for it to take forever for an update when setting up a new phone? I’m setting up my iphone 14 pro and it’s stuck with a blue “install now” text and the loading thing next to it.

Hi there cady80,
You'll want to be sure your iPhone is charging and connected to a reliable Wi-Fi network with good signal strength in order to complete the update. Learn more here: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
Take care.

Hi cady80,
Was the update eventually successful? I'm having the exact same problem and it has been at the "install now" phase for over an hour (and I'm connected to a reliable wifi network). Thanks!
This works for me! Instead of transferring data during setup, I don’t transfer, and install latest iOS 16 in the new iPhone 14 plus. Then erase all and restart the settings and transfer data from old iPhone. This time it didn’t require to install iOS 17, just transfer data directly!
Okay so I figured it out. I was having the same issue with my iphone 14 pro that I just got today.
I found this-
You basically have to plug your iphone into your computer and restore it. When you restore the phone it will automatically update and you'll be able to transfer your data the way its supposed to work.
Hope this helps !
Hi ozom100, it finally worked for me! After updating my new iphone 14 pro to iOS 16.7, I plugged it into my mac and restored the backup from the old phone. FYI, this erases all of the content on your new phone (which was fine for me since I did not have anything personal on it yet).
One important thing to note is that when you launch Music and click on your new plugged-in iPhone under Devices (in the left-hand column of Music), you may get a message that "This iPhone is open in another window."
Don't fear, click on the iTunes Store in the same column and then click back on your iPhone in Devices. For some reason, this fixes the message and allows you to restore or sync.
I have the same thing for the first time. This is the reason why I hate fk IOS 17 and why I do not update!! I only update for restoring, and update takes 1 Hours now. I ****** off!!
