iPad won't build a bluetooth connection to MacBook

When I try to connect my iPad 6 (with ipad-os 16) with my MacBook Air (m2) it gives me the "macbook is not supported". Why does that happen? I meet all version requirements.

MacBook Air, macOS 13.5

Bluetooth pairing an iPhone or iPad and a Mac is not supported.

If you are attempting to use Handoff/Continuity or AirDrop, that does involve Bluetooth but the devices are NOT paired; Bluetooth just needs to be on and the devices in range of each other. The following may help with Handoff/Continuity issues: Work seamlessly across all your devices - Apple Support
