Friends can't see my fitness status/progress on Apple Watch only

My friends can't see my fitness status progress on their Apple Watches (in the sharing rings section). I tried with my wife to remove her from my shared contacts and re-added and in the Apple Fitness app I can see her progress but on my Apple Watch it shows dashes/blanks. I check my friends phone and the same thing.
