Contacts’ Related Name: field or link?

When editing a contact’s card in Contacts on my iPhone I am given the option to add a “related name”. When I add a name by clicking the i and choosing another contact from my list of contacts the name that is related looks like a link (underlined blue font) when the contact card is displayed after it is saved. BUT It doesn’t act like a link. I touch it and the background box just brightens briefly. I long press and I’m give a menu to Copy or Speak the name. Is it supposed to be a link and I have a setting wrong somewhere or are you expected to Copy the name and then Paste it into the Contacts search box?

This used to work perfectly. You could have a whole family of related names on a contact card and each one would take you to each person’s card. It has been non-functional for over two years. Sad, Apple used to really nail the small stuff.
