Mail : no longer remembers previously-used move-to folders

iPadOS 17.0.2

Up until iOS 17, my iPhone and my iPad would remember folders of frequently-moved messages from a known sender. Swipe right on a message and you’d see a folder suggested that was commonly used for that sender.

As of iOS 17, Mail no longer seems to remember previously-used folders, forcing me to navigate through all my folders to find the folder I want to move the message into. Need todo this every time I need to move an email.

You are not the first - and are unlikely to be the last - to make this observation. Whether this change in established functionality is by design, or is a bug, is unknown.

Apple invite submission of comments, bug reports and feature requests via its Product Feedback portal. For iPad and iPadOS:

Feedback - iPad - Apple

If you note any unexpected changes to functionality, repeatable bugs, or would like to see additional functionality in a future version of iPadOS, this would be the most appropriate channel to offer feedback to Apple. When submitting a report, ensure that you include your iPad model and installed version of iPadOS in the body of the report; don't rely upon the pick-list - as this inexplicably rarely includes the most recents versions.

You might also wish to seek assistance directly from Apple Support. You can contact the Support Team using the Support link at top-right or bottom-left of this page. Alternatively, you can initiate and manage your support cases from Apple devices using the excellent Apple Support App. If not already installed, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:

After being fixed once iSO I7.4.1 update means again Mail app is no longer remembering previously used folders

Should you have a repeatable issue, consistent across devices, you might be well advised to submit a Bug Report via Apple's Product Feedback portal. For iPad and iPadOS:

Feedback - iPad - Apple

When submitting your Bug Report, please ensure that you include details of your iPad model and installed version of iPadOS within the body-text of your report along with details of the problem. Do not rely upon the pick-list - as this rarely includes the current version of iPadOS.

Every Bug Report counts. Unless reports are submitted (with adequate detail), Apple may not assign resources to investigate and correct the issue.

I had the same problem with mail on my iPhone and iPad.

After my iPhone for a sudden remembered the previously-used move-to folder I realized, that I had cleared my Website Data for Safari on my iPhone recently. (Settings:Safari:Advanced:Website Data:Remove All Website Data).

The iPad still had the problem. After clearing the Website Data for Safari on my iPad as well, Mail on the iPad started to remember the previously-used move-to folder again.

Don’t know how Safari and Mail are connected. Perhaps they share some memory.
