Flagged Email Count Incorrect

After the Software update to iOS 17.01 on my iPhone, the Flagged email count doesn’t match on my iPhone, compared to the iPad or Mac. Even when i deleted my email account, and rebooted the phone, it still showed 21 Flagged emails, despite there not being any mail in there at all. What is the right fix to remedy this?

I may have figured out how to fix it. I uninstalled and reinstalled the mail app. This appears to have deleted whatever cache was being used for that counter. Seems to be sticking at this point and correctly showing the right flagged count.

This is what FINALLY worked for me. After dealing with this issue for a couple years (I had relegated myself to just having an inaccurate count on my iPhone), this is what got everything back in sync. Thank you @crematum:

Finally resolved my iOS Mail's incorrect e-mail count on iOS 17.0.3. Under Settings>Mail>Accounts, Sign Out from all e-mail accounts (for the default iCloud account, turn off iCloud Mail). The iPhone will ask to delete e-mail data from the phone, answer Yes (data will remain in the iCloud). In my instance, an error message was highlighted that there was an error in merging the messages, I presumed from the previous Mail sync process. Check that the mail app is not showing any mailboxes. Next, add back all the e-mail accounts.

Hope this helps.
