Unexpected Siri Shortcuts behaviour in iOS 17

One of my longer Siri Shortcuts which worked fine in iOS 16 is crashing repeatedly in iOS 17. I can't spot any relevant changes in the Siri Shortcuts User Guide and I'd be interested to learn if others are having problems with shortcuts in iOS 17. I'm experiencing two unexpected behaviours. The most common is that when the shortcut requests a spoken response and the response is given, the shortcut responds with "for what time?", a phrase that appears nowhere in my shortcut. I've also had the shortcut get stuck and, on one occasion, take the iPhone back to the lock screen. Long shortcuts are fiddly to write and test and I may just abandon this one if I can't fix this easily. Am I alone with shortcuts issues in iOS 17? I'm also discussing this with Apple Support on X.

Hi. i also have a issue with siri+shorctust

Today i updated my iphone 11 to iOS 17, and I've been experiencing some significant issues with Siri and Shortcuts that I hope someone here might be able to help me with.

Prior to the update, Siri was working flawlessly, executing all my commands from Shortcuts without any problems. However, since upgrading to iOS 17, Siri has been acting strangely. Instead of executing the commands as it used to, it responds with various nonsensical replies. For example, it asks me to set up HomeKit, claims that certain devices don't exist, performs random internet searches, or simply states that it didn't understand my request.

All these commands were working perfectly fine before the update, so I'm perplexed by this sudden change in Siri's behavior.

Hi, I tried to reply to an earlier response but my reply was deleted because I mentioned a software version that must not be mentioned in this forum. Hopefully this reply will survive. iOS 17.0.3 still causes one of my Siri shortcuts to crash. However, a later version of iOS has partially fixed the issue. the shortcut gets significantly further before it crashes, so I'm hoping that Apple are continuing to work on iOS 17 bugs in Shortcuts and that my shortcut will run correctly in future iOS releases.

Thanks for the various responses on issues with Siri Shortcuts in iOS 17. I tried my long shortcut again today with iOS 17.2 and it ran almost fully through but still suffered from a "something went wrong, please try again" in the final step. I'm afraid that I don't have the tenacity to try to follow this through with Apple Support. I'll check again in iOS 17.3 when it arrives. Shortcuts issues seem to be receiving attention with newer iOS and iPadOS versions. For now I've abandoned my long shortcut and am just grateful that my simpler Siri Shortcuts still work.
