USB to USB-C on iPhone 15 Pro Max

Trying to connect my brand new iPhone 15 Pro Max to CarPlay…

Using a USB to USB-C cable, I notice that the iPhone won’t connect nor charge. Cable is not faulty, since I can charge my USB-C Bose QC45 headphones using them. Same problem when I try another USB port on the car.

Bought a new USB to USB-C cable. No success.

Hi everyone,

I recently faced a charging issue with my iPhone 15 Pro in my car. After several tests, I found a solution that worked for me and wanted to share it in case it helps others. The key was using a high-quality Type-A to Type-C cable with USB 3.1 technology, capable of 10Gb/s transfer rates. This specific type of cable resolved the charging issue. It’s a bit more expensive than standard cables, but the investment is worth it for the functionality it restores. Hope this helps someone facing a similar problem!

I have a 2021 Toyota RAV4. CarPlay worked fine with my iPhone 11 Pro Max with a USB-A to Lightning cable. I recently upgraded to an iPhone 15 Pro Max. This necessitated getting a USB-A to USB-C data cable. I have tried 7 different cables that were supposed to be data cables. 3 of them were supposedly Mfi certified. None of them will allow me to connect to CarPlay. Very frustrating.

Yes, I have the same and another issue. If I plug my iPhone 15 Pro Max into my laptop using USB into computer, and USB-C into iPhone, it will not show up in my iTunes as a device. This is a problem as my only USB-C input on my laptop is taken up by my internet access. If I want to have my phone show up in iTunes, I have to disconnect from the internet and use that port. This is not good. Also in my 2022 Lincoln I have the same problem. CarPlay does not work unless I use the USB-C. If I try the USB port, it does not recognize the phone. I have searched but not found any fixes for this. Hopefully there will be one!
