Apple music control on other devices

Hey

I have just moved over to Apple music from Spotify. With spotify I was used to, control the music on my devices, for example I would play some music on my PlayStation, and use my phone to skip or find something else to play while its still playing on my PlayStation, but the problem is, that I cant do the same, with apple music, is there something I can do?

yes.. unfortunately it's buggy as ****.. for example if I start playing something on my iMac and airplay it to an HomePod and then got to my iPad and try to control that homepod from said iPad. it never allows me to skip songs.. I can see the song that is playing but skipping does not work..

Now, with the newest iOS/macOS/iPadOS, we can finally do so.

For instance, if you start playing music from your computer, you can go to Apple Music in your iPhone, and in the "playing" screen, you'll see the Airdrop icon right at the bottom, press it, all the way down, you'll see a Control Other Speakers and TVs button, press it, et voilà! You can select which device you want to control

I can’t say anything for the PlayStation or anything but you can control media across other apple devices. You go to control center, then hard press it to expand the box, after that there should be a bubble at the bottom that says “control other speakers & TV’s”. If you click that then you’ll be shown all apple devices connected to WiFi other than something like a MacBook. I use it to control media on my Apple TV and HomePod

It would be nice if we could be able to play Apple music on our smart home devices, or another apple device like my phone or ipad, and then be able to open apple music from another device and control what is currently playing from the original device.

Example if I am playing Spotify on my Smart home device (Or another apple device), but I am in the other room I can pick up my phone, and control what is being played on that device.

I can say "Hey Google Play Spotify" and then control Spotify, on my Google Home, from my phone.

If I say "Hey Google Play Apple Music" I am not able to control Apple Music from my phone.

Glad I’m not the only one, it’s driving me crazy. Yes you can hit the AirPlay button at the bottom of the Apple Music app (on my iPhone) and it shows what’s playing, but when clicked it states it will pause what’s playing and replace with whatever song is currently on my phones screen. We don’t want that! What we want is for what’s playing on our Apple TV, Mac, ect to be shown actively on all of our other devices to be able to control (like Spotify). Get on it Apple, you’re so close to perfection but this is garbage.
