My IMac (2009 model) is running OS X 10.11.6 with ITunes 12.8.2.3. I updated my IPhone 12 Pro Max to OS 17.1 and now My phone doesn't show up to sync.

Before we get started, we wanted to point out that due to the age of your fourteen year old Mac, this will affect things like compatibility with apps/new features/security updates/etc. You'll want to keep this in mind going forward.
