Massive missing Gmail emails before June 2023
Dear community,
few weeks ago, I realized that all my gmail messages (inbox, sent, drafts etc)....before June 2023.... were gone! I'm pretty sure I didn't deleted anything manually or accidentally.
At the beginning, I though it was due by a temporary synchronization issue (sometimes happens that my Iphone or my Mac, seem to re-load all the IMAP messages).
But....after I while, I realized that unfortunately....they won't come back anymore....so I started to understand and investigate....
From my researches (initially I focused my researches in my folders, devices, settings etc).... seems that various users had the same problem.... and yet from my researches seems generated by a combo Gmail+Mac.
Of course, I've reached out both the customer services... and the ping-pong started...... Gmail.....suggested to ask to Apple ........Apple to Gmail .....
I also found some articles (both locked, so no replies admitted anymore)....but from the "me too" or "I have the same question".... seem I'm not alone out there!
From Gmail
From Apple
Missing emails - Apple Community
Of course, all of us know how emails are important nowadays .... so I just wanted to check out if anyone found a solution.... or if Apple recognized a bug....and released some fix for it .....even if I'm quite sure my emails won't come back anymore.
From what I've read.....the most plausible cause.... could be due by a command to delete content by the client.
"Issues with the Apple iOS app or OS-X Apple Mail (sometimes associated with updates)."
"That response is typical when an e-mail client (often Apple Mail or the iOS app) delete content over IMAP."
Could anyone help me please?
Does the Mac create a cache copy of the emails? In case is there a way to get them somewhere (to be usable)
Thank you!
