imessage not showing location in satellite view like it did before the new ios17 update

Does anyone know how to make shared location (through imessage) satellite view again on ios 17? It used to be through the Find My app, but now that doesn't change it in the imessage app. Even tried toggling it back and forth in the Find My app as well as Maps.

Apple, please give us back satellite view when we are looking at someone’s location. The map is as plain as an android phone. Give us our satellite back please

Hello Lowlo24,

In iOS 17 there's no way to change the map to a satellite view through Messages. If you go into a message thread, select the persons name at the top and then select the location map the only view options are to turn the 3D mode on or off. This has changed from iOS 16 where you could change the map view from there.

In iOS 17 if you want to view a satellite version of a persons location, you'll need to go directly into the Find My application.

Find people and share your location with Find My

If you'd like to see the view options brought back to the Messages app, you can submit that suggestion to Apple here: Product Feedback

Cheers!
