I'm wanting to down load Imovie, numbers, pages to my desk top computer OS Catalina ver. 10.15.7 I'm wondering which version of these apps I need for this OS, and since they are old can they be down loaded for free?

Have you ever had or downloaded iMovie 10.x.x, Pages or Numbers on this Mac or any other Mac that you have owned?
Do you see these apps listed on your Account Purchased page in the App Store by clicking on your name ,bottom left in the App Store?
No, iMovie 9 will not work with Catalina.
