iPad with cellular features limited to just internet and hotspot

I have an iPad mini 6 with cellular and uses Verizon. Why can’t I make calls or SMS messages. I have an iPhone 5 but it has no cellular (Don’t tell me about the iPad and iPhone stuff). I can use internet and hotspot but that’s all.

Your iPad is not a cellular telephone. It has absolutely no SMS or cellular telephone capability. You may use cellular data, and that’s it.
