My new watch series 9 is very dim when it wakes

I have a brand new series 9 watch. It has the latest watchOS 10 software on it. When I rotate my wrist and the watch wakes, if I do it relatively fast, the screen is very dim. If I rotate my wrist, extremely slowly, the screen is the appropriate brightness. I have changed the brightness from the control panel, and I have turned the auto wake on and off. Any thoughts? Seems to be a bug.

The latest update to WatchOS 10.4 adds Settings/Accessibility/Minimum Brightness.

Turn this ON and the watch will no longer dim in dark areas.

Nope. Apple support did reach out and ask me a bunch of questions and took some diagnostics. There is a big discussion going on (on another forum) about the same behavior on thew new Ultra2. Lots of people returning their watches.

After I posted this, I did a bunch of testing with my old series 4. After I updated to WatchOS10, it had the same behavior. It's definitely a software glitch/choice. Both my watches are DIM in the dark. WAY TOO DIM to use. I love my series 9 for everything else, but (and granted, I am older and have poor eyesight), it is unusable in low light conditions.

I am hoping for a software fix soon. Or, like the phone and my Mac, an override that lets me keep things bright.
