Apple TV 4k goes black when mute button pushed

Since the iOS17 update I have been having a lot of issues, see other post. Right now when I push the mute button on the Apple TV remote the screen goes black, when I push it again I get the normal Apple TV input.

This appears to be related to my remote controlling my projector and mapping to the A/V mute button. I need to figure out how to stop my remote from controlling my projector.
