Not necessary, but be aware if you’re not using Apple Pay for the purpose or your iPhone is not on or with you, the transaction will probably be declined. If a transaction is declined, an Apple Card Specialist will almost immediately text you, asking was the last transaction you. Respond yes and ask for them to try the transaction again.
Apple Card is a MasterCard, but some merchants may not accept MasterCard.
