Linking to a folder within PowerPoint
It is possible using an older version of Microsoft PowerPoint (e.g. Home and Business 2016) to create a hyperlink from an object or text to a folder on the locally connected server. Clicking on the hyperlink opens the folder in Explorer. Most useful when directing users to a folder containing files.
When the same PowerPoint file, created in the PC, is run from my Mac using Microsoft 365, the hyperlink to the folder does not work. Instead "The application can't be opened -50".
When trying to create a hyperlink from an object/text to a folder using my Mac, this is not possible. The Linking feature requires that a specific file within a folder is selected. In other words there is no Mac equivalent in Powerpoint (365) to link an object/text to a folder.
Ironically, if I link and object/text to a file within my Mac and then manually modify the link so that it points to the folder instead, then it delivers the same error message when run on the Mac, but is able to open the correct folder when running the PowerPoint file on the PC!
e.g. ../Pictures/Personnel/John.jpg is changed to ../Pictures/Personnel
So my question. Is there any setting or workaround that allows hyperlinks to folders to be created that work within a Mac environment for PowerPoint (and possibly other Office tools also)?
