is there a download for numbers on Big Sur
My Mac Pro will not give me an update past 11.5 and the numbers app download is saying I need at least 12.3. Is there no legacy download to be able to use numbers in Big Sur
MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 10.15

I can probably answer that question myself, it brought up the little error window.
Given that it says you have Numbers installed already, have you deleted Numbers '09 from your applications folder? Make a backup copy of it elsewhere then delete it from Applications and see if that changes anything.
I do agree with you that Apple should serve up compatible versions of its apps for older operating systems. We shouldn't have to go through all these hoops, especially because they "upgrade" their apps so often and make them incompatible on all but the most recent operating systems. I have to stay vigilant to NOT upgrade the OS on one of my computers so that it and all its apps stay compatible with my other (older) one. If I one day choose to replace the older one with a new one, the new one will not be compatible with one I keep. I have to buy TWO new computers if I want them to be compatible. So I am buying none.

If Pages, Numbers, or Keynote are in your purchase history its easy—sign into the App Store and go to the top of the screen to Store, then down to View My Account. Here you should see your purchase history where you can download the legacy apps. The App Store will offer to install the last compatible version.
No, not unless you have downloaded it previously on the same Apple ID.
If you have never downloaded it before, there is no way to get a compatible version. If you have, you may be able to get a compatible version from your purchase history.

@Phil0124 : sorry, this is wrong.
I bought Numbers and worked with it for more than 14 years.
Now I cannot upgrade it, and cannot find a version running on the version ( I just upgraded to Big Sur ) I am running on my Mac.
See: Big Sur 11.7.7 - Cannot upgrade Numbers
The link Redownload apps and games from Apple - Apple Support
doesn't provide any way to really download a version running on the macOS we are running.

Did you follow the instructions for downloading a newer version of Numbers?
Yes.
While in the app store, did you click on your name at the bottom left and look in your list of purchased apps?
Yes.
Your screenshot is showing you not in your purchased items list.
No, you can see my account name in the down left corner.
Thank you for your attempt to help and for your time reading this silly problem apparently coming
from a bad software policy.
I will report this problem directly to Apple.
This is the screenshot from the other conversation, the screenshot that cleared showed you NOT in your account, which was why I asked if you had followed the directions.
Your latest screenshot shows you in your account. It has "open" next to Numbers which indicates Numbers is installed already. What happens when you click on "open"?
My answer is based on your post in the support link you posted.
Was Big Sur when Apple dropped support for 32-bit apps? That is why Numbers '09 is no longer able to run on your Mac. There is no version of '09 that will run on Mac OS after they dropped 32-bit support. I believe you can buy and install virtualization software such as Parallels and install an earlier version of Mac OS to keep using Numbers '09.
